Microsoft Encarta is a digital multimedia reference source published by Microsoft. Created in 1993 and discontinued in 2009, it has since been re-activated in 2014. It is available on the World Wide Web for free at, with optional donations. It houses an encyclopedia, dictionary/thesaurus, almanac, atlas, travel guide, biographies, tutorials and how-to's, and a quote collection.

It is available in English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic.
