Microsoft Office One (codenamed Office X) is a version of Microsoft Office, a productivity suite created by Microsoft. It is the successor to Microsoft Office 2019. It is the first version to support Linux distributions, as well as Olympus Inc.'s Nexus OS line of operating systems. Office One reintroduced several programs, such as FrontPage and Encarta, and introduced new programs, such as Screens and Video Editor.

Development began in February 2017 and ended on 19 September 2018 when it was released to manufacturing. It was released to general availability on 25 January 2019.

Office One comes in several editions, all available for purchase online and in various retailers.

Mainstream support for Office One ends on 2 February 2024, and extended support ends on 3 February 2029.

Overall changes

Office One introduces two new applications, only available to subscribers of the Business and Premium editions of the suite: Screens and Video Editor, a screen recorder and a video file editor respectively.

The suite also revives FrontPage (a WYSIWYG web development application) and Encarta (a digital reference source), Optional integration with OneDrive was also added, and as a result the default storage size for a free account was raised from 5GB to 25GB.

App-specific changes



Excel One has a built-in optional 15-minute tutorial on the basics of the program.

Python can now be used as a scripting language, as an alternative to VBA.


PowerPoint One includes seventeen transitions and animations, as well as 500+ royalty-free sounds and 400+ royalty-free songs.


OneNote, the note-taking application introduced with Office 2007, has been upgraded and has new features.

Users can now password protect entire notebooks as well as pages and sections. More functions to the ribbon toolbar have been added, such as Increase/Decrease Text Size and table styles.

Night Mode made its introduction in Office One, with a dark theme to the entire application that can automatically turn on at sunset and off at sunrise.

Customizable progress bars were introduced for to-do list tags. Integration with Microsoft To-Do was also introduced.


Microsoft FrontPage, a WYSIWYG web editor previously discontinued in 2006, has been re-launched.

FrontPage One adds support for server-side scripting languages ASP and PHP, full support for HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, SVG, WebGL, XML, XSLT, and XHTML 1.1. Beta support for WebVR has also been added. Live editing allows the user to make changes to files and see the results in real-time. It also has tools that speed up the process of web development and accessibility tools.

FrontPage One offers offline documentation of the basic web development languages: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, SVG, and XHTML 1.1.




Outlook One introduces a unified inbox view for multiple accounts and synchronization of email signature across devices for Mail. Native support for iCloud and Zoho emails has also been added.

A countdown clock has been added as a daily flag for the Calendar.
